Help Us Bring
Advanced Breathing Care to
Sand Lake and Poestenkill
Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) is a life-saving advanced airway procedure that helps paramedics take over breathing for critically ill or injured patients who cannot breathe on their own. It requires specialized training, equipment, and ongoing skill maintenance.
WHY RSI?
When someone is too sick or too injured to breathe, every minute without adequate oxygen puts the brain and heart at risk. RSI gives our paramedics the ability to secure an airway and support breathing right away, before the patient ever reaches the hospital.
If we can stabilize breathing sooner, we can improve the chance of a better outcome.
This would make Sand Lake Ambulance the first EMS agency in Rensselaer County to provide RSI. That means more advanced care available locally, when it matters most.
What Your Donation Helps Fund
To safely perform Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI), EMS teams need specialized equipment and training. These tools allow our team to secure a patient's airway and support breathing in the most critical emergencies.
Ongoing Mandatory Training
Cost: $5,000
Rapid Sequence Intubation requires specialized training, medical oversight, and ongoing competency testing to ensure it is performed safely. With the right equipment and training, Sand Lake Ambulance paramedics will be able to provide this advanced level of lifesaving care directly in the field.
HELP US REACH OUR $60,000 GOAL.
Every donation moves us closer to bringing this lifesaving capability to
Sand Lake Ambulance.
YOUR SUPPORT HELPS FUND THE EQUIPMENT AND THE ADVANCED TRAINING REQUIRED FOR EMS TEAMS TO SAFELY PERFORM RSI.
WHY FUNDRAISE FOR RSI?
Sand Lake Ambulance is not fully taxpayer funded. Providing EMS at a high standard means paying skilled professionals, maintaining equipment, and staying ready 24/7.
Our goal is to bring advanced level breathing care to Sand Lake and Poestenkill, but this comes with real costs: the equipment, the training, and the continuing education to keep it safe.

Why fundraise instead of “just using taxes”?
Municipal support does not cover the full cost of delivering EMS.
Why does RSI need ongoing training?
RSI is a team effort; ongoing training improves coordination between paramedics, enhancing efficiency and patient safety in critical situations.
Is Sand Lake Ambulance a public agency?
We are an independent nonprofit EMS organization with paid EMTs and paramedics providing 24/7 in-house coverage. In 2026, we employ 35 full-time team members.
